Meet Our Founder.

Dr. Benjamin F. Gilbert III

Dr. Benjamin F. Gilbert III has been practicing in the Wilmington area for over 12 years. He earned his bachelor’s degree in implant biology from Howard University in Washington, D.C., where he was active in student government, the pre-professionals club, and intramural sports, winning three football championships. He attended Howard University College of Dentistry, where he received his Doctorate of Dental Surgery and was involved in various leadership roles.

A Letter to the Community

Professionally, I founded Family Dental Center with a desire to change the way people feel about the dentist and empower dentistry. Let’s face it: People are not excited about visiting the dentist, and as the industry becomes more corporate, the personal touch of a healthcare is lost.

At Family Dental Center, the focus is on elevating the patient experience through a comfort-centric approach. My vision focuses on a practice that is a friendly, welcoming and familiar place for people to receive care. To reflect that, the offices embody the unique characteristics of the Greater Wilmington neighborhood they are a part of.

At every turn, Family Dental Center is innovating! I wanted to start a family practice that is at the forefront of general and cosmetic dentistry. At Family Dental Center, we utilize the highest level of technology, and I am always looking for ways to improve our services and quality of care.

I wanted to establish Family Dental Center as more than a place to get a perfect smile. In addition to fixing smiles, we empower patients to feel better about themselves, encouraging them to take care of themselves and live a healthy lifestyle. Additionally, the focus is on empowering my staff and patients to be their best. It is important to me that the environment at Family Dental Center is inclusive and welcoming for everyone to experience the comfort and excellence of our care.
